What is Penpot AI Wizard?
Penpot AI Wizard is an open source plugin for Penpot that brings AI assistance into your design workflow. It uses a multi-agent architecture: director agents orchestrate coordinators, specialized agents, and tools so you can describe what you want and see it appear in your project.
Why we built it
Why do all AI design tools give you code instead of editable design objects?
Every tool I see — v0, Bolt, Lovable — works the same way: you prompt, you get code. If a designer wants to move a button or tweak a layout, they're back to prompting. Not dragging, not editing. Prompting again.
The designers I work with keep telling me the same thing: they don't want a prompt loop. They want a starting point they can edit normally, in their design tool, the way they always have.
That's why we built Penpot AI Wizard. It's an open source plugin for Penpot where AI creates native design objects on your canvas — shapes, text, paths, boards, components, icons. From there you just edit them like any other element. Drag, resize, restyle. No code output, no prompt-and-pray.
It's not a v0 competitor. It's a different approach entirely.
